Jack’s Creek Campground closed until June 2027. Panchuela Campground appears to still be closed, but may open soon – Last update October 5, 2026
Per this Santa Fe National Forest closure order, Jack’s Creek Campground is closed until June 15 of 2027 unless rescinded.

Per the prior Forest Service notifications, these were going to be open on September 30th, but it seems the work on the water systems has been delayed.
Panchuela Campground *might* be open soon

I didn’t drive in to see if I could get past the gate just beyond Los Pinos Lodge. Despite the road closure, you can walk into Panchuela and access the trailhead. You just have to park at Cowles Ponds or by the Cowles bridge.
There were plenty of parking spaces by Cowles Ponds and by the Cowles bridge when I was there yesterday. There’s just no parking, no campsite use, no bathrooms, etc at Panchuela CG right now.
Stay tuned, though… apparently there is an effort underway to get Panchuela opened soon, even if not all of the resources (like potable water and bathrooms) aren’t available.
