The Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike

The Santa Fe to Taos thru-hike goes from the Santa Fe Plaza all the way to Taos Plaza over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is 132 miles long, spans four counties – Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, Mora, and Taos – and crosses the Santa Fe National Forest, The Pecos Wilderness, and Carson National Forest.

We have Gaia GPS maps documenting every step of the thru-hike.

Day 9 - Morning

Image 21 of 30

This is from the 2018 route Riley and I did. It's just off rt 76 at the intersection of 76 and Duran road. We had a perfect morning plus breakfast at this lovely site, made all the more lovely because the day prior was pretty rough. Heuro Lake is about 1 mile up from this site. We probably would have had it to ourselves, but I was so tired by the time I got here that hauling us another mile was not possible.
