The Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike
The Santa Fe to Taos thru-hike goes from the Santa Fe Plaza all the way to Taos Plaza over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is 132 miles long, spans four counties – Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, Mora, and Taos – and crosses the Santa Fe National Forest, The Pecos Wilderness, and Carson National Forest.
We have Gaia GPS maps documenting every step of the thru-hike.

Campsite opposite Drake Canyon
Rio Chiquito is just a little way behind those trees. Then on the over side of Rio Chiquito (it's shallow enough here to walk across in good boots) there are quite a few nice flat fields to put a tent up in. Riley and I stayed on the far side of the creek in our 2018 route. Another gear suggestion: Wear waterproof boots that can handle at least five inches of water. Even better if they can handle six or seven inches.
