Finisher program
Have you completed the Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike? Would you like some recognition? Then the finisher program is for you.
Here’s how it works:
Send me an email (contact@santafetotaos.org) with:
- Some reasonable documentation that you completed the full route. You don’t have to have done the thru-hike all at once, or to have done it even within one year. “Reasonable documentation” could be a gpx file, a few photos… something. Or just send an email and describe your experience of doing and then completing the route. Describe the route in your own words and your experience on it and of it. Add photos if you want.
- Your full name (and your trail name, if you want).
- Your mailing address.
- Your t-shirt size.
- When you started and finished the route.
- If you did it all at once, or not. Or if you did it in non-sequential pieces (like you did Section 2, then Section 6, etc).
- One to ten photos of your hike.
- A sentence to up to 1,500 words of your experience of the thru-hike. The word limit here is just an estimate – see below why.
- If at all possible, at least a $30 donation. Just the t-shirt and the photo frame for this finisher package come to $23.91, plus the usual $5.85 to mail them to you. If possibly can, $50 or more really would help. That would cover the other costs of printing, keeping the lights on while I assemble your package, and paying for the software to design the materials. Sorry to press on this ask, but life is expensive (as you know). If $30 is a true sacrifice, even $5 helps a lot with morale.
and I will:
- Send you a t-shirt and a small framed certificate celebrating your completed thru-hike. Like this:

- Post the same image that’s in your certification to the Thru-Hike’s Instagram account and Facebook account.
- Set up a page on this website to showcase your photos, when you did the thru-hike, and your description of your thru-hike.
- If you want the privacy, I am AOK with just including your first name and the last initial of your last name.
- If you don’t want some element of this finisher plan (like no framed certificate, or no Instagram post) let me know and I’ll make adjustments.
I can commit to offering this for at least the first 30 people who complete the thru-hike this year.
In addition to getting yourself a little recognition (you’ve earned it!), participating in the finisher program means you’ll be helping the thru-hike gain visibility, support, and funding. The powers that be pay attention to participation.
