The Santa Fe to Taos Trail Offical Guidebook – 2nd edition

$22.95

Release date June 10th. More info here.

What’s in the second edition?

    • The new alternate routes in the north half of the SF2T. These cut “road walking” (forest service road walking) in half.
    • Significantly updated and expanded logistics information
    • Way more detailed information about campsites, with campsites included in the section maps
    • Way more detailed information about water sources, with campsites included in the section maps

Do you need the second edition to do the SF2T?

No. You’ll miss the new parts in the north half that skip the forest roads, but you can still do the SF2T.

Will there be a digital version of the second edition?

Yes. An epub file. That’s the same file format Kindle books use. So you’ll be able to import the epub file into Kindle devices, the Kindle app, or any of the many other reading apps available.

This version of the guidebook is just a little bit nicer than what’s available on Amazon.com. The paper is a little bit better, so the photographs look better. It’s not a radical difference, but some people do notice. Buying the guidebook here, directly from the thru-hike website, also helps us a lot because we get a significantly bigger “cut” from the sale than when we make a sale on Amazon. Every little bit helps! When I can, I’ll drop a little something in the shipping envelope as an extra thank you.

Buy two copies and get free shipping.

All orders placed after February 21, 2026 will be held until the 2nd edition is released on June 10, 2026. So if you order the guidebook now, you will receive the second edition. You will get an email notification when your guidebook has shipped. I will also send one or two email updates as the 2nd edition gets closer to publication, just so you’re in the loop about how it’s coming along.

The 2nd edition will have the improved 2026 route, which includes 50% less forest road walking and two significant short reroutes that make the route much safer. It will also have significantly expanded logistics information, sub-section maps with water and campsites marked on them, and other small improvements. Both the paperback 2nd edition and the ebook 2nd will be available on the SF2T website and on Amazon.
