2025 Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike Finishers
Congratulations to everyone who finished the Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike this year – even if it took you more than one year to do it. Here are a few trip reports from 2025 thru-hikers. This is not at all the complete list of people who did the SF2T thru-hike this year; it’s just the people who submitted trip reports and gave me permission to post their trip reports.
If you finished the thru-hike this year, or even if you did parts of it, I’d love to hear from you. Send an email to contact@santafetotaos.org to let me know how it went and to claim your surprise gift.

“Hiking for eight days from Santa Fe Plaza to Taos Plaza through the mountains was epic!”
Darrow Kirkpatrick (“Two Sticks”), Santa Fe, NM
“As I approached the completion and sensed the connection between Santa Fe and Taos I also began to appreciate the unique character of the route. Is there another long-distance hike in the U.S. that knits together two culturally-significant communities with a high-mountain traverse like this?”

Abe “Yukon Jack”, Santa Fe, NM
“It was really great to revisit and tie together so many Pecos Wilderness trails, and to visit such a special area north of there for the first time.”

Daisy, Taos, NM
“It was AWESOME, of course. I did 15-20 miles a day. The first night camped at one of the ATV pullouts in Drake Canyon, second night on a forest road in Rincon Canyon. All the beaver dams up Rio Chiquito were so cool. I think I only saw two people drive down the Rio on the second day, other than that was alone all day.”
Jerry Riddick, Arizona
“Bruce and I finished our hike yesterday afternoon. We used the new gpx files and of course your book and didn’t get lost at all. Everything was excellent especially Tres Ritos resupply.
Anyway thanks for everything and for organizing such a great hike and guidebook.”
Lynn “Lizard of Oz” DiFiore, Alexa “Highlight” Tubbs, and their dog, Bobby “Flat Tire”, Silver City, NM
“My favorite part was the Trailriders Wall – least favorite was the FS roads. Northern NM is so gorgeous & SO much water!”

Paul Davis, Santa Fe, NM
When I saw the first article in the SF New Mexican about the SF2T hike, I was immediately taken with the plaza to plaza idea.
